2013 Missouri Tigers Football Preview

The Good: The good news for Missouri is they are in the same division with Kentucky. If not, it is probable that the Tigers would finish at the bottom. But it is not all bad as Gatorade Ohio Player of the year, QB MatyMauk, looked great in the spring, and is pushing star James Franklin, who was hurt for a good part of the season last year, for the starting QB position.

The Bad: The defense ranked near the bottom in all categories in the SEC. Losing talented, but alligator mouthed Sheldon Richardson, will not help.

The Ugly: If you thought the defense was bad, the offense was even worse as it ranked 9th or worse in the SEC in all four major categories.

Starters Returning: 8 – Offense/ 6- Defense.

Schedule: The first four games should be a breeze for the Tigers and they should be 4-0 before they get into their SEC schedule in October. They will find it tough once that happens as they get all six SEC East teams in a row, and end the year at Ole Miss and a home date with Texas A&M.

Outlook: Things are not as bad as they seem in Columbia, although not as bright as in the other Columbia in the SEC East. Gary Pinkel is feeling a little heat after last year's rude introduction to the SEC, but he has had a year to figure it out. If the Tigers can find two wins after October, which is a possibility, this team could be in a bowl game. If that happens, Missouri will have something to build on in 2014.

Prediction: 6th SEC East.
