The Good: 8 starters returning on the defense that won the national championship is always a good thing. Add in the fact that A.J. McCarron and a talented group of wide receivers are also back, and that means Bama is poised to go where no other team in college football has ever gone, and that is winning three straight national championships.
The Bad: Unfortunately, key starters from both lines are not returning. Nick Saban is going to have to find new stars to fill in open spots if Alabama is going to have any success in defending its title.
The Ugly: Odds are not in favor for the Tide making it a three peat. No matter what kind of team you have, the ball will eventually bounce the other way sooner or later and the Tide have been living the charmed life for too long.
Starters Returning: 6 – Offense/8 - Defense.
Schedule: If Alabama can get through the first two games, they have a really good shot at running the table. After that, road games at Kentucky, Mississippi State and Auburn don't scare anyone. The key is the September 14th game at Texas A&M. This year, the Tide will be ready, and don't have to worry about having to play LSU the week before. You can bet on any of these games at www.coral.co.uk.
Outlook: Alabama has a great shot to be playing for the SEC championship
in December. Their defense is young, but there is a lot of talent
there. Last year, the defense was ranked #1 in the SEC in every
category, and #1 in every category in the nation, except passing (#7).
Having returning players back at the skill positions on offense will
make the Tide even tougher to defense. However, the ball will bounce
the other way this year and they will fall short of playing for the
national championship. The SEC championship game is a more realistic
goal.
Prediction: 1st SEC West.
