All-Time SEC Fantasy Football Team

The 2011 college football season will open with the classic "changing of the guard" storyline. Gone are some of the top prospects that have ever graced a college campus, such as Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy. However, with the beginning of every football season, the age-old argument has to be made - who are the best of all-time? The 2010 season saw some of the top SEC players of all-time make the jump to the NFL and a few players were able to crack the team. Here's who we'd pick for our best all-time Southeastern Conference football team (some you will find listed at the bottom of the page in our chart of every SEC player who ever won the Heisman Trophy):

Offense

QB: Tim Tebow (Florida, 2006-2009). Tebow is the heart and sole of the SEC and could arguably be the top college football player of all-time. Heisman Trophy, SEC and national championships and a number of prominent records has vaulted this Gator to the top. RB: Bo Jackson (Auburn, 1982-1985). Jackson rushed for 4,303 yards during his tenure at Auburn, which is a record amount for fewer than 400 rushing attempts. In 1985, Jackson's dominance was on display in route to a Heisman Trophy. He rushed for 1,786 yards, with an amazing 6.4 yard per carry average, which is also a record. Bo Jackson has recently been named to Best All-Time SEC Football Player.

RB: Herschel Walker (Georgia, 1980-1982). Walk only played three years at the University of Georgia, but he dominated from day one. During his first year, Walker set freshman rushing records and finished third in the Heisman Trophy race, eventually winning in 1982. Greatest SEC and NFL icon Herschel Walker has recently been named to Best All-Time SEC Football Player.

WR: Ike Hilliard (Florida, 1994-1996). Hilliard finished is college career with 126 receptions, for 2,214 yards, an amazing 21 touchdowns and one national title.

WR: Josh Reed (LSU, 1999-2001). In just two short years playing the WR position, Reed set a then record of 3.001 yards receiving. Reed also holds the SEC season record for receiving yardage per game (145.0 in 2001) and is second in the career receiving yardage per game (96.8).

TE: Ozzie Newsome (Alabama, 1974-1977). A four year starter, Newsome amassed a record of 42-6 as a starter and holds the record of average yards per catch at 20.3.

OL:

• John Hannah (Alabama, 1970-1972)
• Chris Samuels (Alabama, 1996-1999)
• Bob Gain (Kentucky, 1947-1950)
• Shawn Andrews (Arkansas, 2001-2003)
• Frank Kinard (Mississippi, 1934-1935)

Defense

CB: Tommy Casanova (LSU, 1969-1971). Casanova only played three years at LSU, but he was a three-time member of the College Football All-American team and he is a member of the Walter Camp Football Foundation All-Century team.

CB: Antonio Langham (Alabama, 1990-1993). Perhaps best known for his NCAA violations that caused Alabama to forfeit most of the 1993 season, Langham was one of the best defensive players in the history of the SEC. In 1993, Langham won the Jim Thorpe and Jack Tatum awards.

FS: Terry Hoage (Georgia, 1980-1983). Hoage is a two-time All-American selection and finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting in 1983.

SS: Tucker Frederickson (Auburn, 1985-1988). Frederickson was a two-way player with the Tigers football team (averaging 4.4 yards per carry on offense and leading the team in interceptions as a safety on defense).

LB: Cornelius Bennett (Alabama, 1983-1986). Bennett is a three-time All-American selection and recorded 287 tackles, 21 ½ sacks, and 3 fumble recoveries in his illustrious career.

ILB: Rolando McClain (Alabama, 2007-2009). A truly all around backer, McClain registered 274 tackles during his three-year career with 29.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, and five interceptions.

LB: Derrick Thomas (Alabama, 1985-1988). One of the finest players in Alabama history, Thomas smashed many Crimson Tide defensive records, including sacks in a single season. He was awarded the Butkus Award in 1988 after a season which saw him record 27 sacks along with finishing 10th in Heisman Trophy balloting.

DL:

• Jack Youngblood (Florida, 1967-1970). We have named Jack Youngblood to our Best All-Time SEC Football Player and Top All-Time SEC Defensive Football Player.
  
• Reggie White (Tennessee, 1980-1983)
• Tracy Rocker (Auburn, 1985-1988)
• Terrance Cody (Alabama, 2007-2009)
• David Pollack (Georgia, 2001-2004) (Honorable Mention)
