The Vanderbilt Commodores men's tennis team displayed remarkable improvement during the past two seasons.
The Commodores ended the 2006-07 season with a No. 37 ranking and 11-13 overall record after advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time the past seven seasons. In the 2007-08 season Vanderbilt's men's tennis team enjoyed one of the most bright seasons in recent years. The Commodores advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row and finished the season ranked No. 26 with a 14-10 overall and 4-7 SEC record .Under the head coach Ian Duvenhage,who enters his fourth season in Nashville, the Commodores looks confident for the upcoming 2009 season.

The Vanderbilt Commodores tennis -- women's team -- is quite a bit stronger
than the men's. In fact, in the SEC tennis pre-season poll, the coaches
predicted the Vandy women will end up 3rd in the SEC East in 2008; the men in
6th in the East.
At the end of the 2007 college tennis season, the Vanderbilt women were
ranked 16th; the men 37th.
The coaches for the Vanderbilt Commodores men's tennis team are Ian Duvenhage
who is the head coach, and Tom Boysen who is the assistant coach. The
2007-2008 roster for the Dores' men's tennis team will be:
- Adam Baker a 6'5 freshman out of Nashville, Tennessee.
- Nick Cromydas a 6'0 junior out of Glenview, Illinois.
- Evan Dufaux a 6'4 senior out of Tampa, Florida.
- Scott Lieberman a 5'10 sophomore out of Riverwoods, Illinois.
- James Moye a 5'10 sophomore out of Winter Park, Florida.
- Vijay Paul a 5'9 sophomore out of Medford, New Jersey.
- Ryan Preston a 6'2 senior out of Northbrook, Illinois.
- Andy Pulido a 6'2 freshman out of Texarkana, Texas.
- Bryant Salcedo 5'11 freshman out of Boardman, Ohio.
- Alex Zotov a 6'0 freshman out of Minsk, Belarus.
2009 The Vanderbilt Commodores Women's tennis Preview
The Vanderbilt Commodores Women's tennis team passed two good seasons in 2007 and 2008.It finished the 2007 season with a 19-9 overall record and a trip to the round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament.The Commodores finished the 2008 season with a 20-6 overall record .It also advanced to its 14th consecutive NCAA Tournament and reached the round of 16 for the 10th straight year in 2008. The members of the 2009 roster for the team are Hannah Blatt,Catherine Newman ,Chelsea Preeg, Erica Robertson, Heather Steinbauer, Jackie Wu ,Keilly Ulery and Courtney Ulery.Under the leadership of the head coach Geoff Macdonald,who enters his 15th season as the head coach of the women's tennis team, the Vanderbilt Commodores looks really bright for the next season.

When you talk about Vanderbilt women's tennis, you have to mention former Lady
Commodore Julie Ditty who went on to have a great pro tennis career after
graduating from Vanderbilt. In fact, Ditty won 6 singles and 22 doubles titles
during her outstanding professional career.
