Last Season's Discussion:
The Auburn Tigers Track and Field Men's team finished 2007 ranked 3rd nationally. In 2006 it was Auburn's Women's T & F team who won the NCAA National Championship.
This year head coach Ralph Spry is conditioning Auburn's Men's team to follow suit. It was unfortunate that the Auburn Tigers track and field men's team had to lose several players during their 2006 season due to injuries. As a result, the team failed to finish in the top 10.
However, 2006 was much better and this year the team has a lot of experienced players on the roster, including two-time shot put champion for the NCAA Edis Elkasevic, who was out of commission last year, and eleven All-American athletes: Ty Akins, Jacob Dunkleberger, Cory Martin, Reuben McCoy, Shamar Sands, Mark Johnson, and Donald Thomas. The latter two are transfers into team.

Auburn Tigers women's Track and Field team, which consists of some young athletes, gained valuable experience from the 2008 season. Under the guidance of the head coach Ralph Spry , the Auburn Women's team looks promising for the upcoming 2009 season.
Last Season's Discussion:
The Auburn Tigers track and field women's team lost a number of members this year. So, they aren't predicted to do as well as the men's team. The women's team does have two returning All-American members, Kerron Stewart and Michelle Vaughn. Stewart earned six All-American honors in her first year and was labeled the Southeastern Conference and Mideast Runner of the Year.
Also on the Auburn Tigers women's team this year is Katalin Mate and Michelle Williamson who are national qualifiers.
The team schedule starts with events at the Clemson Invitational and then the team travels on to the Indiana Relays road trips to Florida and Arkansas round out the team's adventures before the Southeastern Conference Championships on February 23nd held in Lexington, Kentucky.
The outdoor season finale is the NCAA Indoor Championships in Arkansas on the 9th and 10th of March. It is only a short break from there before the teams have to open the outdoor season schedule.

Other events that the Auburn Tigers track and field team will be hosting are the Tiger Track Classic on April 6th through the 7th and the Auburn Invitational on the 21st of April.
