Aggies Meet UCLA in Season Opener

The September 3 season College Football season opener between UCLA and the Texas A&M Aggies is possibly the most anticipated match-up of the fast approaching opening weekend. Texas A&M comes to the party with an experienced defence line, consisting of three seniors and junior player Kingsley Keke. The Aggies are expected to make a number of changes to their usual 4-3-4 defence strategy, especially in the light of their having to adjust to UCLA's typical aerial offense.

Considering that the Aggies linebackers are much younger than their UCLA counterparts, UCLA may simply crash over any defence brought against them by the Texas A&M Aggies. This, coupled with the fact that the UCLA defence line isn't merely slightly older, but veteran by comparison, does not bode well for the Aggies by any measure.

Scott Quessenberry promises to give the Aggies a run for their money. The celebrated center is the man to be watching in the UCLA defence line. Already on the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, Quessenberry was recently added to the Outland Trophy Watch List as well. The Outland Trophy is awarded to the nation's best interior lineman, and being nominated to feature on this prestigious watch list does not come easy.

UCLA Kenny Lacy Suffers First Significant Pre-Season Injury

UCLA coach Jim Mora very recently announced that star offensive lineman Kenny Lacy had suffered a serious injury to his hips that will most probably cost him not only the opening weekend, but the entire 2017 College Football season.

Lacy described the realisation that he was hurt during practice as having felt like a "pinch", never once even considering what a subsequent MRI scan would end up revealing. The injury will most likely end senior player Lacy's College Football career altogether.

Mora seems to be holding out hope that the injury will not mean the end of the season for Lacy, saying that the human body was a mighty and complicated thing, able to heal itself despite all expectations to the contrary. As with any sport, punters will be keeping a close eye on what this and other injuries mean for the future performance of teams. Whether it is football or NRL premiership betting, injuries always play a role in the outcome of a game.

UCLA Defence Put On The Spot By Indecision By Aggies

The Aggies are as yet undecided as to which of their trio of quarterbacks will be the starter. This places UCLA in the precarious position of having to prepare for three different game scenarios. Although sports fitness doesn't seem to be the issue here, there are some uncertainties regarding the players. UCLA defensive coordinator Tom Bradley was quoted as saying that it was easy to get the play to move fast, but a different story altogether to get it done right.
