The SEC basketball teams have gone from strength to strength in recent years, throwing out at least one Final Four team for four out of the last six years. SEC teams also make up around a quarter of the Sweet 16.

Kentucky Wildcats

The Kentucky Wildcats are loaded down with young talent, especially Tyrese Maxey and Kahlil Whitney, who both look destined to become lottery picks for the NBA. They have already been linked with teams such as the Golden State Warriors and the favorites to win the Central Division, according to Oddschecker, the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Florida Gators

With the return of Andrew Nembhard and high profile additions like Kerry Blackshear, Scottie Lewis, and Tre Mann being brought into the fold, the Gators have a line up that could easily make them odds-on contenders for the national title.

The only stumbling block could be UK’s unforgettable inability to turn a distinct advantage into tangible gains. The Gators lost 16 games they shouldn’t have last season. If they can find a way to plug that leak, then they are more than capable of making it to the top.

LSU Tigers

According to gooner news, being able to retain both Will Wade and Javonte Smart was a huge plus for LSU, but it doesn’t undercut the amount of talent they were able to accrue in the form of Trendon Watford.

With other key players such as Skylar Mays, Emmitt Williams, and Marlon Taylor still on side, LSU will hopefully be able to distance themselves from the poor behavior that dogged them last season, and saw Wade handed a suspension just before his team took their run at the Sweet 16.

Alabama Crimson Tide

The Crimson Tide have a new head coach and a whole lot of talent that could see this season being a great start at the University of Alabama for Nate Oats.

Retraining Kira Lewis Jr to play alongside valuable and experienced players like John Petty, Herbert Jones, and Galin Smith was a big first step, and the addition of James Bolden has left UA set for a bumper 2020 season.

Auburn Tigers

The loss of Jared Harper, and Chuma Okeke leaving for the NBA Draft, was a big loss for the Tigers. Both players had been mainstays for the fast-paced game that the Tigers had become renowned for.

With head coach Bruce Pearl announcing that the team would focus on a more normally paced game, seeing how the Tigers reassess their situation in 2020 will be interesting.
