Tim Jamieson Biography
Tim Jamieson took a weird path to get back to the Missouri coaching staff, but he got there and stayed and now he is a main stay in life in Columbia. He is one of the wininngest coaches in Missouri History. He simply stays and wins consistently. It took awhile to build the team, but build it he has. The team is a great bit like him, cool, calm and collected. He got a great compliment a couple of years ago when he was selected to lead the USA Collegiate National Team. Jamieson was an assistant with the group in '05. They went 16-4 that year as they played in places like Japan and Taiwan, along with having venues supplied here in America for them to play in. Two of his very own players were there, the first of many to come hopefully since 1991. He played at U of New Orleans and then was a coach for them for six years and then went to Columbia as an assistant in 1988 as an assistant under McArtor for six seasons and then was the head coach in '94.
Jamieson is a great coach and is entering his 18th season. He has had 30 wins 13 of the last 15 seasons. They went to the Tournament for a seven year span from 2003-2009 and advanced to the Regionals eight times under Jamieson. He has had 8 Tigers to become All-Americans.
In 22008, Jameison got the Tigers to 39 wins. They were fourth in the Big 12. That year Aaron Crow was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Year. It seems the two teams coming into the SEC from the Big 12 are built around pitchers and great coaching. Crow also won the Clemson award winning the Nation Pitcher of the Year. In 2007 Jamieson was named the Big 12 coach of the year for the second time as his team won a school record 42 games and for the first time hosted a Regional.
Jamieson has gotten 58 of his players to be drafted into the MLB, which will definitely help in recruiting. If his players are making it to the bigs then that's a big selling point. Jamieson has also got some things to sell to the parents like the fact that eight academic All Americans have played under his watch at Missouri. More so than that he has had 90 Academic All Conference, can you imagine bringing that home to a mom or dad. They would love you.
In Jamieson's first year the team climed all the way to 17th and got that way in a manner no one would have thought of. That's right, it was for the first time since 1991. They won the conference title that year. Jamieson did things that hadn't been done before. The only teams to have one a Big 12 championship up to that point was OU and OSU so when Mizzou won it, it was just crazy. Maybe they'll win an SEC title quick and be a surprise.
