As a UGA grad and avid Bulldawg fan, I must say that I think Coach Landers has taken the Lady Dawgs program as far as they can go. The last decade has been mediocre at best compared to previous...and the inability to draw consistent fan support shows that his pull on the program is only getting weaker.
Despite the influx of talented players (a lot who play at the next level), Coach Landers still hasn't been able to push the team to become relevant during the NCAA Tournament. At times over the last few years, bowing out to lesser-seeded teams in the early rounds. One of the biggest blows or testament of the programs demise, is the fact the Georgia couldn't keep it's states (and maybe the nation's) top player, Maya Moore at home! Getting Maya would have been a huge boost for the program....not getting her and watching what she accomplished at Connecticut and as a rookie in the WNBA, just magnifies the hurt.
Coach Landers used to compete with Pat Summitt and her program almost neck and neck, but haven't been much of a competition to his SEC nemesis for some time now.
Yes, Coach Landers has does wonders for this program, but now it's time for someone else to get the opportunity to bring us back to where coach had the program 10 years ago....and beyond.
