The Tide will Roll to a 27-19 Victory Over the Longhorns in the BCS Championship Game

The Texas Longhorns (13-0) take on the Alabama Crimson Tide (13-0) in the national championship game. The winner of the game could boil down to who has a greater game, Heisman winner running back Mark Ingram for Alabama or Heisman finalist QB Colt McCoy for Texas.

In my opinion, the Crimson Tide has more talent surrounding Ingram, and the Tide will win the game 27-19. The Tide crushed defending champion Florida 32-13 in the SEC Championship game and Florida is comparable to Texas.

The Crimson Tide has an excellent starting quarterback in Greg McElroy. McElroy completes over 61% of his passes. He has thrown for 17 TD’s and only 4 INT’s. Besides Ingram, who gains 118 yards per game, the Tide also has Trent Richardson 49.4 yards per game and Roy Upchurch 29 yards per game. The Crimson Tide has 27 rushing TD’s this season, averaging over 2 touchdowns per contest. The Tide is averaging 216 yards per game rushing, this is ranked 12th national in Division 1 football schools. There are no standout wide receivers on the Tide. They have four wide receivers that average over 30 yards per game Julio Jones, Marquis Maze, Colin Peek, and Darius Hanks.

The Longhorns are led by QB Colt McCoy who was sensational in 2009. McCoy completed 70.5% of his passes while throwing for 27 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. His main target is wide out Jordan Shipley 106 receptions 1363 yards and 11 touchdowns. Other great wide out for the Longhorns include Malcolm Williams, James Kirkendoll, and Dan Buckner. These three caught 12 TD’s between them. Texas’ running game is average at best. Tre Newton led the longhorns with 513 rushing 6 TD’s. QB Colt McCoy, believe it or not, led the Longhorns in rushing touchdowns with 12. McCoy is a better passing version of Tim Tebow, but Tebow is a better athlete and running quarterback than McCoy.

Tebow and the Gators got killed in the SEC game. Texas should fare slightly better but, they will come up short, as long as Greg McElroy has a solid mistake-free game.
