SEC Week 5 Review Week 6 Preview

By Kory Kinslow

Most of the SEC held to form, but a few games brought some big surprises. South Carolina is having a very disappointing season. Missouri beat them after the Tigers lost to Indiana last week. It is obvious that the Game Cocks are not the team we thought they were. LSU made short work of New Mexico State. Even with the one loss, LSU is still in the hunt for the SEC West. Tennessee is obviously improving. They gave a good Georgia team a major test. Georgia's running game is very good and Missouri kept up scoring 32 points. Georgia will have to play better if they expect to continue with winning the East.

Kentucky played a good game and beat Vanderbilt. Probably a test of the worst two teams in the conference, but they could both beat mid-level teams of most other conferences. Arkansas gave Texas A&M a scare. A&M proved that they are clutch and that their defense is better than previously thought. They played an excellent fourth quarter. I don't know if Arkansas will make it to a bowl game, but they are going to come up and bite a team or two that needs wins in the West this season.

Auburn handled Louisiana Tech very easily and remains undefeated, as did Ole Miss as they easily defeated Memphis. I think both divisions and are wide open. At this point Georgia looks like the class of the East, the West is harder to pick. Right now it's too muddied up. It should be fun to see how it plays out.

Florida plays Tennessee this week. I think there was a time we thought Florida would be near the top of the East, but I truly believe that Tennessee will win this one.

Texas A&M plays Mississippi State this week. State's defense could out do the offense of A&M, but for how long?  I think that both teams have great quarterbacks and whoever plays the best in the passing game will win this one.

Alabama plays Ole Miss. Don't be surprise if we get two big upsets from both Mississippi teams this week. I don't think Alabama is as good as they have been the past few years. I think this will be a very close game and I'm going to say Ole Miss wins it.

LSU will play Auburn in a big time battle this week. I believe that Auburn's ability to run the ball will prevail and they will beat a very good LSU team.

Georgia plays host to Vanderbilt. Georgia will take this one easily. Vanderbilt needs to do some big time recruiting and rebuild this off-season. It is going to be a big project.

South Carolina plays Kentucky this week. This is one is tough to call. Kentucky is a decent team and you never know what you get out of South Carolina. I'm once again going to pick South Carolina, but wouldn't be surprised to see Kentucky make it a game, possibly even winning.
