The Pac10 dominance seems to relate to USC and the weather. SEC teams do not do well away from home; yet cool breezy weather is much less of an advantage than an unconditioned team going off to play in unbearable late summer heat and humidity. Thanks to USC, Pac10 teams hold their own in unbearable weather. For a coastal team, humid heat is probably a 10 point disadvantage.
Yet the SEC verbal hot air does seem to keep the SEC teams high in the rankings. Any kind of hot air helps the SEC. The data indicates that the SEC superiority is a probable myth.
