WHY LEAVE OUT ALL THE OTHER SPORTS? JUST BECAUSE THE SEC IS NOT STRONG IN TENNIS, WRESTLING, RODEO, GYMNASTICS, FIELD HOCKEY AND SOFTBALL IS A SORRY REASON TO "EXCLUDE" THESE SPORTS.
TAKE LOOK AT THE WINNINGEST PROGRAMS IN COLLEGE, MEASURED BY TITLES. THEY ARE: SOUTHERN CAL, UCLA, STANFORD, OKLAHOMA STATE AND TEXAS. THERE ARE NO SEC SCHOOLS IN THE TOP FIVE.
Editor's Note: Actually the SEC is quite strong in tennis, gymnastics and softball. Check out our pages on those sports if you are interested. But, you do have a point that the Southeastern Conference doesn't compete in many of the really minor sports.
Still, in our opinion, those sports are simply not significant enough to overcome the lead the SEC has in the major sports -- particularly football. As you may know, college football is considerably more popular than any other college sport. And, since this is a fan site, we take into consideration the importance of the various sports to the fans.
However, we understand if you have a different perspective. Thanks for the comment.
