SEC is Overrated

The Southeastern Conference is probably the most overrated football conference. It is the Notre Dame of football conferences.
For instance, last year 4 sec teams started in the top 10: LSU, Georgia, Florida, and Auburn. By the end of the year only two remained in the top 12: Florida and Alabama.
In comparison the Big 12 doesn't have the East or West coast biases and many teams go under the radar until about halfway through the season. Texas, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma were title contenders the whole season.
The Big XII conference is also much more fun to watch with the high powered offenses. With the exception of Florida, I almost fell asleep watching the SEC games on CBS last year.
The big 12 is also dominant in basketball. As we saw last year the SEC was horribly embarrassed come tourney time. Only one ranked team, no teams in the sweet 16. Again with the exception of Florida, no teams have made a significant impact in the tournament in recent memory. The big 12 on a rebuilding year was better than the SEC last year.
Some mid-major conferences even did better than the SEC in basketball.
