Referee Bias in Alabama - Georgia SEC Championship Game
by Former football Referee
The referee on the Georgia sideline seemed to be biased, i do not know his name but i agree with Kevin Butler's comments after the game. The pass interference call in the end zone was clearly over the head of the Alabama player and the closest referee about 10 feet away did not call it. This was a big call in this ball game.
There were other calls in front of this referee such as an obvious block in the back and holding. I would like to think that this guy just had a bad day or should not be doing a game at this level. The Murray no call could have kept Alabama from a field goal before the half in what could have won the game for Georgia from the 8 yard line with one.
There was also a no call on pass interference on Malcolm Mitchell on the ALA sidelines he caught the pass that was not called. I am sure the SEC office will look at this closely.
