Oct 23 SEC Football Games Predictions

This is a great weekend of SEC football, so let’s get right to it. Houston Nutt’s going home, Alabama’s going to Big Orange Country, South Carolina looks to rebound at Vandy, Georgia travels to Kentucky in the second best matchup of the weekend and, of course, Auburn stays home to face the LSU Tigers.

LSU at Auburn

Look, I’m not saying Auburn is not a good football team but last week’s officiating crew made them look luckier than Notre Dame playing
a team of atheists. The storylines this week are LSU’s fast and nasty defense against Cam Newton. On the other side of the ball it will be
Jordan Jefferson and an improving Jarrett Lee attempting to throw against a depleted Auburn secondary. Auburn enjoys a sound kicking
game so I’m going with the home team. This is Auburn’s 6th home game of the year.

Ole Miss at Arkansas

I like the offensive weapons at Arkansas and they proved last week that Ryan Mallett is not the only QB they have. Tyler Wilson came on in relief and absolutely torched Auburn for 320 yards passing. Ole Miss is coming off a game where not much of anything worked offensively and with the Arkansas defense improving (yes I know they
gave up 65), I have to go with the home team.

UAB at Mississippi State
Mississippi State
Homecoming for Mississippi State. They will become bowl eligible with a 6th win on Saturday and I expect them to get it. There is the
possibility that the Bulldogs will still have their heads in Gainesville but Dan Mullen is proving that he belongs in the SEC and
should have them ready.

Alabama at Tennessee

Tennessee has nothing and Alabama is a very tired football team, just as they were last year when Bama needed 2 blocked field goals in the 4th quarter, by Terrence Cody, to preserve a 12-10 win. Bama is a 16 point favorite in Knoxville but it really doesn’t matter, they are just trying to notch another W and get to their much needed off week. Tennessee QB Matt Simms takes a lot of chances throwing the ball across the field for short gains. Trying that against Alabama could be
deadly.

South Carolina at Vanderbilt
South Carolina
With or without Marcus Lattimore, South Carolina should leave Nashville with a win.

Georgia at Kentucky
Georgia
The Wildcats are coming off a big win but I think Aaron Murray and AJ Greene are getting their timing down which is opening up passing lanes for Kris Durham, Rantavious Wooten, Orson Charles and Aaron White. This is Georgia’s season and will go a long way in deciding Mark Richts future. Wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Joker
Phillips steal the win.
