"The Big East is a serious conference. Maybe not the best but they are a contender. West Virginia University knocked off the SEC football champ in 2005."
EDITORS NOTE: I have been very, very surprised by the Big East. I have always thought last year was a fluke for them. But, South Florida's win at Auburn last night really surprised me and then there was Cincinatti's win at Oregon State. In fact, I think everyone in the Big East is undefeated (other than Syracuse who lost to both Washington and Iowa.
So, it's a long year, but we probably will need to re-evaluate the Big East. There is obviously a lot of talent there. Of course, I still say no conference has the tough week in and week out schedule that SEC teams face.
P.S. The Pac-10 has also done better than expected so far in 2007. Maybe some fans of these other conferences will be willing not to make a case for their conference being the best.
