One of my favorite moments in Georgia football history, was when Georgia FINALLY BEAT Tennessee in 2000.
That season, Coach Jim Donnan and quarterback Quincy Carter had coached and played their last season. Georgia played Tennessee in Athens on cold night in October. It was the same day the Braves were eliminated from the wild card playoffs. Everyone in Athens thought this will be the year Georgia wins the SEC. Tennessee was 2-2 going into the game, also Tennessee knew this will be a dogfight. Georgia was 3-1 and only lost to South Carolina in an upset in the previous month. The Bulldogs scored first and never looked back.
The Bulldogs beat Tennessee 21-10, the fans at the stadium were loud and crazy. By the time it was around 30 seconds to play, the fans started to run onto the field. When the game was finished, the field was stormed by Bulldogs fans.
It was a crazy night. Georgia finally beat Tennessee since 1988, that year they beat them in Athens too.
I remember Larry Munson screaming each time Georgia scored a touchdown, and when the defense made a big stop. When the game finally ended, Larry Munson said "WE FINALLY BEAT TENNESSEE!" I started to cry and couldn't believe it myself.
That was the best thing that happened to the Bulldogs that season, they finished with a record of 8-4. The win over Virginia in the Oahu Bowl was the last win for Jim Donnan.
That's one of my favorite moments in Georgia Bulldogs history.
