Looking at Where the Crimson Tide Stars Will Land in the 2021 Draft

After another colossal SEC campaign, it was, once again, the Alabama Crimson Tide that came out on top. Helmed by Nick Saban since 2007, Alabama were the favorites to become Southeastern Conference champions coming into the season and continued their efforts into the National Championship game.

Still ruling as what many consider to be the best football team in the NCAA, the Crimson Tide washed aside all competitors who came their way this season. It marked a particularly remarkable segment of a historic dynasty under Saban. Alabama won it in style once again, and now several of the team's top performers are tipped to make a splash in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Again, Alabama forges football heroes

The Saban dynasty of the Alabama Crimson Tide had been nothing short of phenomenal leading up to the 2020 season. Since he joined, the team has won seven of a possible 14 SEC titles, going on to claim six National Championships. The triumphs this season marked the second time under Saban's rule that the Crimson Tide went undefeated throughout all phases of the campaign. They went 13-0 out of the SEC West, busting up Notre Dame in the Rose Bowl, and then the Ohio State Buckeyes to the tune of 52-24 at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida in January 2021.

A relentless force of football dominance, the all-SEC schedule proved to be no match to the Crimson Tide, with their offense continuing to snatch headlines. The defense certainly touted some stars, but the fact that 40 or more points were scored in 11 of their 13 games shows that the absurdly well-drilled offense was doing something special. That said, the defense held eight teams to less than 20 points across the campaign. Now, the members of one of the strongest college football outings of all-time are on the boards of NFL team across the country.

The only question for these Crimson Tide players left is where will they land? This year's NFL Draft, taking place at the end of April, will be given a special amount of interest from several states due to the increasing prevalence of licensed and legal football betting sites. Many of the leading sites offer futures for the upcoming draft, so anyone looking to predict where the mighty Alabama players may land would do well to adhere to their dos and don'ts of betting. The main one here is not to get too attached to favored teams or players, remaining objective to predict where the players will be taken in the 2021 Draft.

Where will the Crimson Tide stars land?

There is only one place to start, and that's with the Heisman Trophy winner, DeVonta Smith. Also the Offensive Most Valuable Player of the National Championship match, the wide receiver set new records for yardage and touchdowns, which were previously held by Amari Copper's absurd 2014 effort. Few would deny that each of the top three teams of the draft - Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins (via the Houston Texans) - would benefit from having Smith in their ranks. Still, most foresee the top two selections going to QBs again, allowing Smith to team-up with Tua Tagovailoa in Miami.

The next hottest property to emerge from Alabama's all-conquering season plays on the other side of the ball, Christian Barmore, who landed the Defensive Most Valuable Player of the National Championship. The 310lbs, 6'5'' edge rusher has proven himself as an athlete, with the hope being that it'll be relatively easy to mold him into a more explosive package. While not the highest-rated defensive end or defensive tackle in the draft, plenty of teams are in need, potentially lining Barmore up for selection in the middle of the first round.

It's not just the National Championship MVPs, though, with cornerback Patrick Surtain II almost certainly going in the first half of the first round. Also ready to wash the Crimson Tide over the first round is speedster receiver Jaylen Waddle, long-admired running back Najee Harris, and edge rush-stuffer Alex Leatherwood. Linebacker Dylan Moses may also be in the mix for an early selection if he can live up to the hype in the combine.

Just as Alabama obliterated the college football season, the players who helped to make it happen are also poised to crash the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft in force.
