(Bethalto Il. U.S.A.)
Hi, I'm a 72 yr. old basketball fan, I saw a large portion of the great players to come out of Collinsville illinois. They had some great ones, Terry Bethal all american 1957 along with the board sweeper Tom Jackson who did the dirty job so Bethal could concentrate on scoring.
There was the 1961 team with Bogie Redmon that went 31-0 and was ranked no. 1 in the country, and many other teams and players through a long history at the school.
With all the good players my favorite to watch was Kevin Stallings, he could dismantle the other team with his scoring and deft passing. The players had to keep a sharp eye on Kevin as his passses could find the smallest of openings and many were no look passes that would come off his dribble using only the hand he was handling the ball with. He also played the game with fun, it showed during warm ups as he would talk to people sitting in the stands and when the game started he took the fun on the floor (all though it was not fun for the other team).
I wish I could get a DVD of Kevin Stallings playing in high school, if anyone knows of one or if Kevin would see this site and has one I would gladly pay all cost to get it. You would be surprised to see this 6'5'' high school guard, it was a thing of beauty.
