University of Kentucky's John Wall has not only taken the SEC by storm but has commanded national attention flooding the airwaves with breathtaking highlight reels. The 6'4 195 pound freshman guard has imposed his will on opponents by displaying ankle breaking crossovers and Jason Kidd-like assists not to mention his ability to drive the lane and shoot from just about anywhere on the court. This young man brings with him the confidence and swagger only a man of his God-given ability can back up.
Wall's athletic prowess transcends college basketball which is undoubtedly remarkable considering the company he's in with teammates such as junior forward Patrick Patterson, in all probability a lottery pick next year and freshman big man DeMarcus Cousins.
The freshman phenom seems to be UK's golden goose and seemingly charms fans while creating headaches for opposing coaches averaging just over 18 points per game and complimenting with 7 assists. He does bring with him a negative aspect of frequent turnovers although his tremendous upside seems to give notorious ravenous UK fans amnesia.
There is a degree of certainty Wall will be a "one and done" player with prospects of being the number one pick in the draft next year so coach Calipari will certainly exploit his talents on the court while he has him. With Wall in the NBA next year freshman Eric Bledsoe, a true point guard in his own right will have the unenviable task of meeting the expectations of Calipari and Wildcat Nation still stinging from the loss of his legendary predecessor.
Descriptions of Wall have been as diverse as being called overrated to the next Michael Jordon and everything in between. The jury is still out on sum of Wall's Wildcat career but one thing is certain in that he has the pedigree of talent and confidence to control his destiny in the game of basketball and Wildcat folklore.
