OSU's NFL talent from the 2006 team is not in question, so I don't buy into the whole 'speed argument" or whether OSU was a worthy opponent that year. OSU beat 3 major programs that year (Texas, PSU and Michigan), and they certainly had the NFL talent (maybe even more than the 2006 UF team).
Florida was just the better team that night. This year, Nebraska destroyed Washington and then Washington defeated Nebraska in the Bowl game. The 1975 Buckeyes blew a National Championship to UCLA in the Rose Bowl, after destroying UCLA by 3 TDs earlier in the year.
The point? Blowouts happen for many reasons, but I would avoid strong blanket statements.
The Patriots defeated the Jets by 6 TDs this year only to lose to the Jets in the playoffs.
Congrats to UF for playing perfectly that night. I still don't know how that night happened. A few critical plays broke OSU's back and will and UF capitalized big time on some short field position.
Yes, I realize this post is 4 years after the game.
