Heisman Vote Breakdown by Region
by Mo Johnson
(SEC Country)
Congrats again to Mark Ingram on taking home Alabama's first Heisman.
It's interesting to look at the breakdown of voting by region. It looks like it was Toby Gerhart's 4th place finish in the Southwest (so Ndamukong Suh's strong performance there in Big 12 country) that lost it for Gerhart.
We were worried that Tebow might be the spoiler and lose it for Ingram. Turned out that Ndamukong Suh was the bigger factor as Tebow came in last in a distant last place in every region.
So, maybe we can say that Suh was the spoiler in the 2009 Heisman Trophy race. Either way, Ingram was the right winner. He took 1st place in 4 of the 6 regions of the country.
Here are the results by region.
