Georgia Bulldogs 2012 Preview
Can Georgia repeat as SEC East champs? Can Georgia beat Florida two years in row? Can Georgia beat Missouri in Columbia, MO? Can Georgia overcome the loss of Isaiah Crowell? Can the two freshman running backs, Keith Marshall and Todd Gurley make some noise this year? All those questions will have an answer during the season.
Georgia has won the SEC East division two years in a row back in 2002-2003 seasons.
Georgia got a little down when Isaiah Crowell got arrested in June. He then got kicked off the team with possessions of gun and marijuana in his car. Keith Marshall and Todd Gurley will have to step up in the running back committee. Richard Samuel and Ken Malcome are still with the team. Georgia does have some experience in the running game. Can Aaron Murray repeat his performances from last year? I think he can. Hutson Mason is the back up quarterback; I still think Hutson will play a little more this year. Tavarres King should make a big impact on Aaron Murray. Senior Wide Receiver Marlon Brown should make a good duel threat in the passing game along with Tavarres King.
The defense will have more experience in the front. Defensive Coordinator Todd Grantham will continue to use his NFL style defensive schemes. Hopefully he will be mellower than last year, especially after the incident that took place after Georgia beat Vanderbilt last year. The defense cannot afford to give up too many yardages to opponents. Last year in the Capital One Bowl in the 4th quarter, the defense couldn’t stop Michigan State. They probably could’ve won that game.
Can Georgia travel to Columbia, Missouri and beat the Tigers? Last time Missouri and Georgia played against each other, 1960 Orange Bowl. Georgia beat Missouri 14-0. Missouri, who used to be in the Big 12, will have to adjust their football life in the SEC. It will be an interesting matchup comes September 8, 2012.
So question is, can Georgia repeat as SEC East Champs? If Georgia does win the East division, can they overcome the SEC West teams, such as Alabama, maybe Texas A&M, or LSU? Georgia has to beat South Carolina this time, especially since its going to be in Columbia, South Carolina. I think Georgia can beat the Gamecocks; also Georgia should be able to beat Florida back to back years. Last time Georgia beat Florida back to back years was in 1988-1989.
