Florida Should Be Ranked # 2

UPDATE (Jan 8):
AP Poll just out. It has Texas ranked #2; Florida #3; Boise State #4; OSU #5. Can't argue with it since Texas and Florida both lost only one game this season; both to Alabama; and Texas played Alabama closer than Florida did. The only point I'd make is that Florida had the better bowl performance. But, yea, Texas was in the NC game. So, it's all good. Hey, I'm not gonna get down about anything the day after the SEC wins its record 4th straight National Championship!!
With TCU's loss to Boise State last night, shouldn't the Florida Gators end the season ranked #2?
Why?
First, Florida ended the regular season ranked #5 in the BCS standings. Ahead of them was Alabama, Texas, Cincinnati and TCU. Cincy and TCU have already lost; either Alabama or Texas will lose. So, naturally Florida should move up to #2, with the winner of the Bama-Texas game #1.
Second, Florida has clearly had the most impressive performance in the Bowl season with the Gators' amazing Sugar Bowl performance -- demolishing previously unbeaten, Big East Champ, Cincinnati 51-24. In that game, Florida racked up the most yards ever in a Sugar Bowl (659) and Tim Tebow had the most yards (533) any player has ever gotten in any BCS Bowl.
Third, Florida's senior class is the winningest in SEC history; with 2 BCS Championships already (2006; 2008). QB Tebow won the Heisman in 2007 and was in the final 5 in 2008 and 2009. That history should be recognized.
Finally, if Alabama beats Texas, Florida will have lost only one game and that to National Champ Alabama in a conference championship game.
Wow, we are tantalizingly close to the season ending with SEC teams ranked #1 and #2 (as it should be).
SEC haters -- beware.
