College Football National Championship System Too Subjective

by Lifetime College Football Fan

I have long heard arguments why each conference is better than the others, but until more head to head play is consistently recorded from year to year between the conferences I feel that all arguments are far too subjective to be considered legitimate.

This is just another reason I support a playoff system. If the SEC and Big 12 teams won out in the playoff every year I would not hesitate at all to say they are the best conferences and deserve all the praise and honor lauded on them every year. Right now though, I don't consider the terribly subjective national championships of the past and the still far too subjective national championships of the present accurate measurements of prestige.

Besides, historically being a tough conference or program doesn't mean you still are. Just ask the numerous dissolved conferences or Navy or Army. Even Notre Dame is hitting the skids. Teams get worse and teams get better. As a result, so do conferences.

Until conferences regularly have a chance for their best teams to go head to head at the end of the year, I still consider the whole thing too subjective for proper argumentation.
