Charlie Trippi is not only an All-American football player he is an All-American baseball player (1947). He still holds the overall batting title (.464) at Georgia.
He played for the Atlanta Crackers in 1947 and led the Southern ASSn. in hitting. Charlie is still on the All-Rose Bowl team playing as a freshman in 1942 gaining about 147 yards replacing Frank Sinkwich who was injured.
In the 1947 Sugar Bowl game which Georgia won over North Carolina 20-10 Charlie Trippi played the entire game. I don't believe anyone could do that today. Not only is Charlie the overall best football player he is the best Athlete to play for Georgia of All Time.
