Alabama Wins the 2012 BCS Bowl

Alabama Crimson Tide beat LSU Tigers 21-0 in the BCS Bowl. Alabama last went to the BCS Bowl just two years ago. LSU who was rank number 1, looked flat all game long. They couldn’t get rhythm going on offense and on defense they played pretty well until the 4th quarter. Alabama was rank number 2 and they played hard all game long. Last time these two teams met, LSU won 9-6 in OT.

In the 1st quarter, the only scoring was Jeremy Shelley’s 23 yard field goal. Alabama leads 3-0. Jeremy Shelley missed two field goals in this game. In the 2nd quarter, Jeremy Shelley kicked two field goals. A 34 yard field goal to make it 6-0, then later a 41 yard field goal to give Alabama a 9-0 lead. LSU’s Jordan Jefferson couldn’t come up with some good plays. LSU did a lot of 3 and outs.

In the 3rd quarter, Jeremy Shelley kicked a 35 yard field goal to increase Alabama’s lead to 12-0. Then later in the quarter, Shelley kicked a 44 yard field goal. Alabama looks real good with a 15-0 lead. AJ McCarron was spectacular; he was 23-34, 234 yards passing, and no interceptions. Jordan Jefferson was 11-17, 53 yards passing and 1 interception.

In the 4th quarter, Alabama stuck a knife to LSU when Trent Richardson ran a 34 yard touchdown run to give the Crimson Tide a 21-0 lead. Jeremy Shelley missed an extra point. Alabama Crimson Tide’s defense was stymied and relentless. Alabama now won 14 National Championships.

Now the question is, will there be a true number 1 after this game was played? LSU finished the season at 13-1, Alabama is 12-1. Both teams played well most of the game. It was another defensive battle like the first game back in November.

There will be talks of a playoff game because Alabama who had only 1 lost this season and that was to LSU, made things more complicated. Oklahoma St. thought they were going to get in the BCS Bowl, but it didn’t happen. Boise State and Houston were the other teams that got rejected by the BCS computer rankings.

Something will be done in the near future, most of the country thought it was a boring, dull game.
