A Recent Survey Reveals Interesting Thoughts on The SEC

A recent survey conducted on college football has produced a number of interesting results, with the SEC one conference that continues to appear to split opinions.

The division is one that has long been argued to be one that is considered to be rather unfair at times given the way that it has been created, however it also does continue to provide some of the most interesting teams in the country.

27% of respondents find the SEC unfair

When taking a look at the organization of the college sports conferences, it was found that most respondents had highlighted that the SEC was the conference they had felt was the most unfair in regard to how it was structured.

A total of 27% of the 1,026 people surveyed stated that they had felt the SEC was the most unfair, although this was only 2% higher than the Big Ten (25%). On the other hand, only 11% had found that the SEC was fair, which was the lowest of each conference.

47% of respondents would be happy to see the SEC be reorganized in the future, although 30% agreed that the SEC is the strongest in regard to overall talent.

One of the reasons why so many respondents have probably highlighted the SEC in this way is perhaps due to the fact that since 2000, the conference has had 12 college football championships, with the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) the next closest on four.

63% of respondents find the SEC the most exciting conference to watch

Despite almost a third of people surveyed finding the SEC unfair, it would seem that almost two-thirds of them actually find the SEC one of the most exciting conferences to watch.

A total of 63% believe this, and only the Big Ten (68%) was considered to be even more exciting in regard to the conference matches that continue to be played regularly.

SEC football teams dominate the most interesting teams to watch

Given the responses that we have already seen, it is perhaps far from a surprise to learn that the SEC was found to dominate the survey in regard to the conference that has the most interesting and exciting teams to watch in college football.

According to the findings, it was revealed that the conference has three of the top five teams in the standings. Alabama Crimson Tide was found to be the most entertaining team to watch, whilst they were followed closely by the Georgia Bulldogs and the Arkansas Razorbacks. In fact, it was revealed that the SEC boasts four of the most interesting teams in the top 10.

On the other hand, it was also found that the SEC boasts one of the most boring teams in the entirety of college football, too. The Auburn Tigers were ranked second on the list, with only the Buffalo Bulls being ranked above them as the least entertaining.

81% of SEC fans valued the rivalries in the conference

When taking a look at how competitive the conference is and the rivalries that exist, the SEC was found to rank second in regard to the importance and significance of these games.

A total of 81% of respondents had felt this way, with only the ACC thought to rank higher, with 85% of people believing the rivalries within this conference were incredibly valuable and important.

In terms of the SEC, the biggest rivalry was found to be the match between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers, with 12% of the 1,026 people surveyed believing this sports rivalry is one of the most iconic in the NCAA. Furthermore, Alabama’s rivalry with the Tennessee Volunteers received 7% of the vote.

It is clear that the SEC continues to provide college football fans with a number of exciting elements, although it is rather interesting to see how a sample size of people view the conference and what their opinions of it are.
